“Kintsugi is the Japanese art of putting broken pottery pieces back together with gold — built on the idea that in embracing flaws and imperfections, you can create an even stronger, more beautiful piece of art. Every break is unique and instead of repairing an item like new, the 400-year-old technique actually highlights the “scars” as a part of the design. Using this as a metaphor for healing ourselves teaches us an important lesson: Sometimes in the process of repairing things that have broken, we actually create something more unique, beautiful and resilient.” -Ayuda, Tiffan.

You will notice throughout this website that Kendra has included images of Kintsugi pottery images. She sends each of her clients (with their permission) a Kintsugi pottery kit as part of a therapeutic homework assignment representing the work we will do together.

Couples break the bowl and piece it back together as they answer a series of questions related to their relationship goals. It then serves as a visual reminder for them when times are difficult.

From Kendra:

“I am overjoyed to share some photos of their beautiful projects (also with permission). For me it represents the countless hours of hard work all of the couples I have worked with have put into their relationships and I look forward to adding more to the collection.”
